We WON!
It's a proud day for Finland and for monster heavy rock. This is great! Go Lordi!! Over 40 years of Eurovision humiliation have been wiped away by five monsters. I was in Finland this weekend, and although I watched this historical moment at home with the oldies, I later heard stories of people crying of happiness in pubs all over Helsinki; no doubt it's true. Besides, the song rocks. Their other songs are pretty catchy, too. See videos below. BTW, the vids are extremely professional compared with a lot of stuff that comes out of Finland, but then Mr. Lordi's civilian job used to be writing and drawing storyboards for films.
I loved the hats. It shows that they don't take themselves too seriously.
Facts of the day: The band has been in existence for fourteen years, twelve of which have included this whole monster theme. They had a No 1 hit in Finland a couple of years ago with Would you Love a Monsterman. Tomi Putaansuu, aka Mr. Lordi, has always loved hard rock and monsters, so he's living his dream, bless him. Mr. Lordi considers horror themes simply a subgenre of comedy, hence the healthy sense of humour they have.
Hard Rock Hallelujah:
